There always seems to be something exciting going on in London. But summertime is a particularly lively time of year in the city, when festivals, events, and exhibits galore arrive to display their splendours. The season is still going strong - so if you haven't visited London this summer, now is your chance to catch the city in full bloom.

London is one of those cities that has something to offer everyone - whether it's history, culture, fashion or nightlife. So when you travel to London, you can simply take your pick from countless activities and attractions. Some of the many exciting happenings in London this summer include seasonal theatre shows, festivals, visiting art exhibits, concerts, and dance performances and many more.

If you're like most people, you won't want to leave London without catching some theatre shows. After all, London is famous for its theatrical offerings, no matter what time of year. But the city is hosting a number of seasonal performances, so it's worth looking into these first. The Winter's Tale, The Trial of Marie Antoinette, and A Streetcar named Desire are just a few of the theatre shows being staged this summer, while Oliver!, Once on This Island, and Dirty Dancing are sure to please musical enthusiasts.

London is also hosting several theatre-based festivals including Regent's Park Open Air Theatre - featuring Shakespeare, shows and stand-up comedy - and the Camden Fringe - staging 118 different shows across four venues in London.

If you're an art enthusiast, you'll love the Royal Academy of Arts Summer Exhibition, the BP National Portrait Award exhibit, Super Contemporary at the Design Museum, and Walking in My Mind - an exhibit featuring giant installations at London's Hayward Gallery. Love going to concerts? Tom Jones, Green Day, Ladysmith Black Mambazo, and Beyonce all have London performances scheduled this summer. And if you're up for a music festival or two, make sure to check out the Beer and Jazz Festival, the London African Music Festival, Get Loaded in the Park, and the Tête à Tête Opera Festival.

Finally, London is teeming with dance performances this summer - some of the most notable including Adam Cooper: Shall We Dance, Sadler's Wells is Dance, Strictly Come Dancing Live!, and Tango al Fresco. And if you'd like to move your own feet to music, you can take swing dancing lessons at Swingland.

Many of these activities and attractions are centrally located, or close to the centre of the city - which means booking central London hotels during your stay is probably most convenient for accessing as much as possible. With so much to see and do in London, it simply makes for the perfect summertime getaway.
